Their name means "Bark Lion Sentinel Dog”
They are also known as Himalayan Mountain Dog because long back they live isolated with Tibetan Buddhist.
They come under Non sporting group.


LifeSpan: 12 to 14 years. This breed is genetically strong and has a adaptive quality and can adapt in all weather. And give birth to 4 to six puppies.
They are long lived dogs.
The litter size will decrease to 2 or 3 after certain age.

Colour: Their hair colour ranges from Black, Hone, Brown, Golden and Sandy.

Coat: Lhasa Apso generally have long and dense silky coat. They have more growth on their head and hair covering their frount and hind legs.
Hair falling on both the side of their face.
The coat colour of puppy may generally change after they grow adult.
Their long hair needs regular grooming and brushing. Brushing 3 4 times a week.

Eye colour: Their eye colour is generally dark brown to black.
Lhasa Apso generally are tend to get more eye infection like including dry eye, cataractsand progressive retinal atrophy (PRA).
Because of the long hair covering their eyes.
To keep eye infection at bay trim or chop their hair that interrupting their eyes.

Size: Height: Female: 25–28 cm, Male: 25–28 cm
Weight: Female: 5–7 kg, Male: 6–8 kg
This is general height and weight of fully grown up dogs.

Generally use for: This cute looking Dogs were used by Tibetan Buddhist to protect the Temple. Lhasa Apso were the second in line 1st were Tibetan Mastiffs who watched over the temple.

How can they be trained? It can be tricky to train them and lots of treats and reward.
They are very good at responding to training and guarding. They are very good guarding dog and can be very protective towards their owners.
They are a bit aggressive breed and can also bite at certain situation.
They are very friendly and intelligent.

Needed Nutritions: They generally need high quality Nutritions food as they have long hair and more prone to get eye infection. They need food that contain fat level of less than 14% and clean fresh water plays and essentials role.

Exercise: Not much exercise like other breed but they but few miles a day is mandatory for mental stimulate and body.

1st Lhasa Apso come to United State was gifted by Dalai Lama in 1930s.

GSD (German Shepherd Dog) German Shepherd Dog it was named as Alsatian in Britain until 1977 later to GSD. It comes in the list of most popular dogs.
